My Favorite Kids’ Car Seat for Travel!

This little post is long overdue. My #1 most asked question of all time is- “what color is the paint on your walls?” BUT my #2 most asked question has got to be, “what was that kids’ car seat you talked about that using when you travel?” No joke I must get asked about it at least 5x a day. So now hopefully doing this mini blog post about it will make it easier and more accessible for all of you!

Traveling with kiddos is no easy task. Especially when they are at the age where they don’t want to sit on your lap anymore but they also don’t get the appeal of an ipad either. We had a terrible trip down to Florida at the beginning of the year and one of my amazing followers recommended this car seat for travel. It;s great because it’s super light-weight and inexpensive and it allows your kiddos to fall asleep once in flight. We always talked about taking our big, heavy, everyday car seat with us on trips but it is SO cumbersome and I really didn’t want to worry about anything happening to it. So this $45 car seat was the perfect solution. I know TONS of you, probably hundreds have ordered it and used it for flights with great success. (thank you for all the messages- again, I get them almost daily!)
Another question I get asked is if we use this car seat while on vacation. The answer is yes- sort of. The times we have traveled with it, we are going to a destination with extended family who are able to watch and play with our kids so that my husband and I can go out and do things together. We use the car seats to go to and from the airports to the hotel but not much after that. They are a five-point harness but I just don’t want to rely on it’s safety in an accident so we really just use as minimally as possible once we get to our destination.

I hope this answers all of your questions- if you have anymore, feel free to DM me or leave it in the comments!

Emmy Gets a BIG GIRL BED!

So for the last few months, Emmy has been asking us for a big girl bed. We were a little reluctant at first but decided it was a good time for her to work towards it- as a goal. She loves sticker charts and is always asking to make them for one thing or another and she is at the age where she totally understands the actual concept and that she has to earn what she wants and if she does what we ask of her, she will get a reward at the end. So my husband and I decided we would make her a sticker chart and once she stayed in her bed a certain number of nights- she would get her big girl bed And low and behold- it worked like a charm. We went through a really rough patch for a while where she would not stay in her bed at all. Every night we would have to bring her back into her room over and over again. We really did not want her to get into the habit that it’s okay and normal to sleep in our bed. For us, that just won’t work. I know for some people it does, but we did not want to get into that.

Anyways- I digress. My point is, the sticker chart worked like a charm and after she filled up the first row, she was able to get her big girl bed. My husband built it and I dressed it all up one day when she as out with her Mimi. The look on her face when she saw her new bed was absolutely PRICELESS. She is so in love with this bed, words can’t even describe it!

So here is her bed (and Emmy) in all her glory! This bed was actually a crib first and with the bed rails, we were able to make it into a full size bed. I plan on her being in this bed until college! Ha! We shall see!

Fall Fashion for Toddlers- Part 2

fall fashion for toddlers
Now it’s Elliott’s turn to show you guys some cute fall fashion for toddlers. Just like with his big sister Emmy, Nordstrom is my favorite one stop shop for fall clothing. They carry all of my favorite brands, even for Elliott’s size! I mean, how cute is this Patagonia Vest? I can’t even handle it! He looks so stylish but I know he is also warm and cozy. Best of both worlds, right?

Fall Fashion for Toddlers- Part 1

cutest kids clothes
I get a lot of questions about where I buy my kids’ clothes. Just like for myself, Nordstrom is one of my favorite places to shop for their clothes. They have a huge selection of the absolute cutest kids clothes and brands to shop from. Some of my favorites are Tucker + Tate, Mini Boden, Ugg, Hunter and Patagonia.
This was probably one of my favorite “photo shoots” to do because 1. I got to do it with Emmy and 2. she was in the best mood! You can see it on her little face- she was having so much fun and loving her outfit! Emmy’s cute little leggings have hedgehogs on them so that basically sealed the deal for me, I had to buy them! Her tunic is also so adorable, I would love it in my size! And how cozy is her fuzzy zip up. She absolutely LOVES it!
For anyone who is contemplating getting your child Hunter boots– do it! They are so easy to slip on/off and Emmy just loves jumping in rain puddles with them. She basically can wear them for 2-3 seasons. Spring and Fall for sure and in the early winter here with heavy socks. They are a great shoe to buy if you were thinking about doing so!

When I think back to when I was a kid-going back to school meant one thing-getting new clothes! (Yes even at a young age I was always excited about clothes!) So I was extremely excited to partner up with Janie and Jack to showcase some amazing fall fashion for kids! I have never seen such cute back to school clothes in my life! Their pieces are beautiful and put together and just so special! Any kid would feel like a rock star wearing these gorgeous outfits!

One of the things I have always loved about Janie and Jack clothing is that they look like shrunken down adult clothes. I love getting the kids pieces that don’t look like kid’s clothes but more mini adult clothes. It’s just so cute. I think my husband has an identical grey flannel button down as Elliott’s and what I wouldn’t give to have a matching pink quilted jacket like Emmy’s!
